Events and activities
Never a dull moment at Pennine Lodge
Pennine Lodge is in a beautiful location opposite Centre Vale Park, providing an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and spend time in nature with a country walk.
It is a wonderful facility to have right on our doorstep, and the park is famous for hosting popular regional outdoor events, such as the National Crown Green Bowling Club Championships and Todmorden Country Fair.
Our ladies and gentlemen love to get out and about and enjoy trips into the local community. We regularly go to Daisy’s local dementia-friendly café, the Todmorden Hippodrome men’s club, the Rotary Friendship Club dance, the Roomfield Baptist Church coffee morning and Intergenerational groups at Todmorden High School and C of E primary school.
We also offer personalised and group day trips to the cinema, museum, football matches, concerts, meals out, and visits to the local church for Sunday services.
We are lucky to have access to great shopping in Burnley, Halifax and Huddersfield and are well positioned for trips to Hebden Bridge, plus a wealth of picturesque towns and villages in West Yorkshire.
Exercise and wellbeing
Our exercise group plan exercise in line with individual needs. They organise and play adapted versions of football and ‘catch’, which help to keep the body strong and supple.
We have a hair and nail salon on site where our qualified hairdresser provides our ladies and gentlemen with regular hair styling, setting and colouring as well as nail care, to keep them feeling their best.
At Pennine Lodge we offer a full programme of home-based, tailored activities to suit everyone’s individual needs. These include themed days around national holidays such as Valentine’s Day quiz and Easter Egg hunt, plus crafting groups offering colouring, puzzles and model-making.
We have a varied programme of entertainers who visit the home, with singers and live shows which our ladies and gentlemen really enjoy.
We like to use innovative ideas and products to help us to support our ladies and gentlemen, including our Jolly Trolley – a fully interactive entertainment trolley with touch screen technology. It is used as a tool to communicate though music and pictures, creating a pathway of communication for those living with dementia. The pre-programmed reminiscence films are designed to help people to express themselves, carry out calming and meaningful activities, and stir happy memories.
The Jolly Trolley is fully portable, enabling us to carry out activities anywhere in the home, grounds or into the rooms of those who are hard to reach or unable to physically participate in group activities.
We use the Jolly Trolley to help celebrate people’s birthdays and have also used it for memorial services. As our ladies and gentlemen are not always able to attend funerals, this gives them and our staff members a chance to say farewell.
